Thread: Dryer heats up only when temperature switch set to "HIGH"

Dryer heats up only when temperature switch set to "HIGH"

    Model Number: GLET1031CS
    Brand: Frigidaire
    Age: More than 10 years

In my Frigidaire Washer+Dryer laundry center, the heater element only heats up when the temperature setting is set to "HIGH". Would this be due to the heater element assembly (even though it was just recently replaced 11/2024 as a Frigidaire OEM new item) or the temperature switch (never replaced)? If I check the temperature switch resistance this weekend when I disassembly the control panel, am I expected to see values like (for example): 2 ohm for "LOW", 4 ohm for "MEDIUM", and 6 ohm for "HIGH" (i.e. sequential) if the temperature switch is working? Thanks for any suggestions.

I would suspect that the temperature selector switch might be bad.

You can test it using the chart below by doing a continuity test. The appliance will need to be unplugged and the part will need to be removed from the machine to perform the test.

This part has been discontinued by the manufacturer. It is part number 131753000.
